Heat shock proteins (HSPs) production in cell is inducible by many physical and chemical stressors, providing adaptive significance for organisms when faced with environmental changes. In this study, we characterized a novel small HSP gene from disk abalone, designated as HdHSP20, and investigated its temporal expression by different environmental stimuli.
