We analyzed seasonal and annual variations of the whole layer atmospheric moisture budget and precipitation during 1961–2005 and their associations with large-scale circulation in the Yangtze River basin, China. The results indicated increasing moisture budget in summer and winter, but decreasing moisture budget in spring and autumn. Positive correlations between moisture budget and precipitation illustrate tremendous impacts the moisture budget has on the precipitation changes across the…

Precipitation and hydrological variations and related associations with large‐scale circulation in the Poyang Lake basin, China

Long streamflow series and precipitation data are analysed in this study with aim to investigate changing properties of precipitation and associated impacts on hydrological processes of the Poyang

Main moisture sources affecting lower Yangtze River Basin in boreal summers during 2004–2009

This study presented a quantitative climatology of atmospheric moisture affecting the Yangtze River Basin (YRB) region in boreal summer season, as well as the spatial evolution of atmospheric

On the Linkage between the Extreme Drought and Pluvial Patterns in China and the Large-Scale Atmospheric Circulation

China is a nation that is affected by a multitude of natural disasters, including droughts and floods. In this paper, the variations of extreme drought and pluvial patterns and their relations to the

Spatial and temporal variability of precipitation indices during 1961–2010 in Hunan Province, central south China

Based on daily precipitation records at 75 meteorological stations in Hunan Province, central south China, the spatial and temporal variability of precipitation indices is analyzed during 1961–2010.

Spatial and temporal variations in rainfall erosivity during 1960–2005 in the Yangtze River basin

Water resources and soil erosion are the most important environmental concerns in the Yangtze River basin, where soil erosion and sediment yield are closely related to rainfall erosivity. The present

Drought and wetness variability in the Tarim River Basin and connection to large‐scale atmospheric circulation

On the basis of daily observations of 39 meteorological stations in the Tarim River Basin, the variability of drought and wetness has been analysed using the standardized

Spatial and temporal variation of precipitation in Sudan and their possible causes during 1948–2005

Temporal and spatial patterns of precipitation are essential to the understanding of soil moisture status which is vital for vegetation regeneration in the arid ecosystems. The purposes of this study

Spatial and temporal characteristics of changes in precipitation during 1957–2007 in the Haihe River basin, China

The present study explores the spatial and temporal changing patterns of the precipitation in the Haihe River basin of North China during 1957–2007 at annual, seasonal and monthly scales. The

Estimation of future precipitation change in the Yangtze River basin by using statistical downscaling method

In this study, the applicability of the statistical downscaling model (SDSM) in downscaling precipitation in the Yangtze River basin, China was investigated. The investigation includes the

Enhancement of the summer extreme precipitation over North China by interactions between moisture convergence and topographic settings

This study investigates the roles of atmospheric moisture transport under the influence of topography for summer extreme precipitation over North China (NC) during 1979–2016. Based on rain gauge

Atmospheric moisture budget and floods in the Yangtze River basin, China

In this paper, we explored the trends of the atmospheric moisture budget, precipitation, and streamflow in summer during 1961 to 2005 and possible correlations between them by using the linear

Data analysis and numerical simulation of moisture source and transport associated with summer precipitation in the Yangtze River Valley over China

SummaryIn this study, the moisture source/sink and long-distance moisture transport associated with the summer precipitation in the mid-lower reaches of the Yangtze River Valley (YRV) over China have

Precipitation, temperature and runoff analysis from 1950 to 2002 in the Yangtze basin, China / Analyse des précipitations, températures et débits de 1950 à 2002 dans le bassin du Yangtze, en Chine

Abstract Abstract Monthly precipitation and temperature trends of 51 stations in the Yangtze basin from 1950–2002 were analysed and interpolated. The Mann-Kendall trend test was applied to examine
