The effect of two different doses (50 and 100 mg/kg body wt/day for 14 days) of 80% ethanolic extract of the leaves of Adhatoda vesica were examined on drug metabolizing phase I and phase II enzymes, antioxidant enzymes, glutathione content, lactate dehydrogenase and lipid peroxidation in the liver of 8 weeks old Swiss albino mice. The modulatory effect of the extract was also examined on extra-hepatic organs viz. lung, kidney and forestomach for the activities of glutathione S-transferase, DT…

Chemomodulatory effect of Moringa oleifera, Lam, on hepatic carcinogen metabolising enzymes, antioxidant parameters and skin papillomagenesis in mice.

The modulatory effects of a hydro-alcoholic extract of drumsticks of Moringa oliefera Lam at doses of 125 mg/kg bodyweight and 250 mg/ kg body weight for 7 and 14 days, respectively, were investigated with reference to drug metabolising in the liver of 6-8 week old female Swiss albino mice to suggest a possible chemopreventive potential of Moreda olifeira drumstick extract against chemical carcinogenesis.

Modulatory Influence of Abutilon Indicum Leaves on Hepatic Antioxidant Status and Lipid Peroxidation against Alcohol-Induced Liver Damage in Rats

The increased peroxidative damage in liver is likely to be associated with alcohol induction pathology, which could be reduced by A. indicum leaves extract by enhancing the antioxidant potential through free radical scavenging activity due to its some flavonoids and micronutrients.

Both the treated groups showed significant decrease in TBARS and hydroperoxides formation in brain, suggesting its role in protection against lipidperoxidation induced membrane damage, suggesting a possible antiperoxidative role for Scoparia dulcis plant extract.

Amelioration of CCl4-induced hepatosuppression by Spinacia oleracea L. leaves in wistar albino rats

The hepatoprotective potential of S. oleracea L., showing protection in liver, may prove promising as a rich source of antioxidants because its use is cost effective, especially for peoples in adverse and hazardous circumstances, who are living in poverty.

Protective role of Scoparia dulcis plant extract on brain antioxidant status and lipidperoxidation in streptozotocin diabetic male Wistar rats

Suggestions of possible antioxidant role played by Scoparia dulcis plant extract in addition to antidiabetic effect are suggested, suggesting its role in protection against lipidperoxidation induced membrane damage.

The effect of Ulam raja (Cosmos Caudatus) on Drugmetabolizing Enzymes, Lipid Peroxidation and Antioxidant status in mice liver

Cosmos caudatus might be able to protect mice livers against damage caused by oxidative stre ss mainly through inhibition of the lipid peroxidat ion process and LDH activity, as well as through some modulatio n of the activities of certain antioxidant enzymes.

Effect of Helicteres isora. Bark Extracts on Brain Antioxidant Status and Lipid Peroxidation in Streptozotocin Diabetic Rats

Abstract The current study investigated the effect of the aqueous extract of Helicteres isora. L (Sterculiaceae) bark on oxidative stress in the brains of rats during diabetes. The aqueous extract of

Hepatomodulatory role of Enicostemma littorale Blume against oxidative stress induced liver injury in rats

The hepatomodulatory response of ethanol extract of Enicostemma littorale Blume was examined in contrast to oxidative stress-induced liver injury by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in albino wistar male

Modulation of drug-metabolising enzyme expression by condensation products of indole-3-ylcarbinol, an inducer in cruciferous vegetables.

Testing the ability of the condensation products formed at a pH corresponding to that of fresh vegetable juice to modulate the metabolism of xenobiotics indicates that indole-3-ylcarbinol is not the definitive CYP1A inducer and that it is transformed to compounds that are inducers by themselves or may be further converted into inducing compounds in the rat stomach.
