Using a semiclassical approach, we analyze the collective behavior of neutrinos and antineutrinos in a dense background. Applying the Wigner transform technique, we show that the interaction can be modeled by a coupled system of nonlinear Vlasov-like equations. From these equations, we derive a dispersion relation for neutrino-antineutrino interactions on a general background. The dispersion relation admits a novel modulational instability. Moreover, we investigate the modifications of the…

A classical fluid description is adopted to investigate nonlinear interaction between an electron-type neutrino beam and a relativistic collisionless unmagnetized neutral-electron-positron plasma. In

Observation of modulational instability in discrete media with self-defocusing nonlinearity.
It is reported that the first observation of modulation instability in the anomalous-diffraction regions of a photonic lattice is reported, and the results are confirmed numerically by simulating the nonlinear beam propagation.

Kinetics of a lepton plasma in the standard model of electroweak interactions
Abstract A many-particle electron-neutrino system of arbitrary density is considered within the framework of the standard model of electro-weak interactions. The Bogolyubov method has been applied

Envelope solitons and nonstationary shocks created by intense neutrino beams in dense plasmas
The nonlinear interaction between intense neutrino beams and sound waves in dense plasmas is considered. Accordingly, a Schrodinger-type equation is derived for the amplitude wave function of
Neutrino Kinetics in Dense Astrophysical Plasmas
Starting from the effective potentials describing the interaction of a single neutrino with a background species and the concept of ponderomotive force of neutrinos, we develop a collisionless

Neutrino conversions in a polarized medium
Electron polarization induced by magnetic fields can modify the potentials relevant for describing neutrino conversions in media with magnetic fields. The magnitudes of polarization potentials are
Dynamical Role of Light Neutral Leptons in Cosmology
Using the Vlasov equation, we show that massive galactic halos cannot be composed of stable neutral leptons of mass \ensuremath{\lesssim} 1 MeV. Since most of the mass in clusters of galaxies
Interacting hot dark matter
We discuss the viability of a light particle ({approximately}30eV neutrino) with strong self-interactions as a dark matter candidate. The interaction prevents the neutrinos from free-streaming during
Neutrino Oscillations in Matter
Nonzero neutrino masses would provide new, unique information on particle physics beyond the standard model. Neutrino flavor oscillations provide the most sensitive method for directly testing for
Kinetic formulation of neutrino–plasma interactions
A kinetic equation is derived for a neutrino gas interacting with a background plasma via the weak force. It is shown how the neutrino fluid equations can be derived from the kinetic equation. The
