Sonchus asper is traditionally used in the treatment of renal dysfunction. In the present study, protective effects of S. asper against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced nephrotoxicity of rats were determined. In this study, 24 male albino rats (190–200 g) were equally divided into four groups. Group I (control group) was given saline (1 ml/kg body weight (b.w.), 0.85% NaCl) and dimethyl sulfoxide (1 ml/kg b.w.); group II was treated with CCl4 (1 ml/kg b.w. intraperitoneally); groups III and…

Phytochemical investigation and nephroprotective potential of Sida cordata in rat
Evidence is shown of the renal protective role of S.cordat ethyl acetate fraction against CCl4 induced nephrotoxicity in rats which may be due to its antioxidant compounds and SCEE could be used as a possible remedy for renal toxicity abnormalities.
Nephroprotective Effect of Jatropha curcas Fruit Extracts Against Carbon Tetrachloride Induced Nephrotoxicity in Rats
It may be concluded that pretreatment of silymarin (50mg/kg dose orally) significantly reversed carbon tetrachloride induced nephrotoxicity in rats and as well as Jatrophacurcas methanol extract showed significant effect against CCl4 inducedNephroprotective effect.
Assessment of the Potential role of Hesperidin as an Antioxidant on the Carbon Tetrachloride -Induced Kidney Damage in Rats
It is proved that hesperidin has a protective effect on the renal tissue of rat and the degree of improvement varies in intensity according the dose of HesperidIn.
Heptoprotective Role of Artemisia scoparia Waldst. and Kit Against CCl 4 -induced Toxicity in Rats
Artemisia scoparia plant extract was successful in fighting CCl4 toxicity as it clearly reduced the elevated levels of liver serum markers, lipid peroxidation, nitrite content, and H2O2 on one side while enhancing the levels of antioxidant enzymes.
Pistacia chinensis: Strong antioxidant and potent testicular toxicity amelioration agent.
Antidiabetic Effect of Sida cordata in Alloxan Induced Diabetic Rats
It is suggested that SCEE could be used as antidiabetic component in case of diabetes mellitus, may be related to its antioxidative properties.
Ethnopharmacological activity of Hedera nepalensis K. Koch extracts and lupeol against alloxan-induced type I diabetes
This study signifies the importance of H. nepalensis and lupeol in ameliorating diabetes by inducing insulin secretion in diabetic model rats and restored enzymatic activity of catalase, superoxide dismutase, reduced glutathione and peroxidase were restored to their normal levels.
Phytochemical Screening and Antidiabetic, Antihyperlipidemic, and Antioxidant Effects of Leptopus Cordifolius Decne. In Diabetic Mice
Plants are well known in traditional herbal medicines for their hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic activities and are often used due to their accessibility, affordability, and corollary effects. Leptopus
Hepatotoxicity Implies chemical-driven liver damage induced by certain medicinal and other chemical agents
Use of antioxidant Hesperedine is recommended as it has a valuable role in improvement of liver functions and as a prophylactic of hepatic and renal tissues against toxicity achieved by free radicals.

Hepatoprotective activity of Sonchus asper against carbon tetrachloride-induced injuries in male rats: a randomized controlled trial
Administration of SAME and silymarin significantly lowered the CCl4-induced serum levels of hepatic marker enzymes, cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides while elevating high-densitylipoprotein levels and Liver histopathology showed that SAME reduced the incidence of hepatics lesions induced by CCl 4 in rats.
Prevention of KBrO 3 -induced cardiotoxicity by Sonchus asper in rat
The results revealed that KBrO3 induced oxidative stress as evidenced by the significant decrease in the activity levels of antioxidant enzymes and glutathione while increase in the levels of γ-GT, MDA and H2O2 in cardiac samples compared with the control group.
Prevention of CCl4-induced nephrotoxicity with Sonchus asper in rat.
Evaluation of Launaea procumbens use in renal disorders: a rat model.
Protective effect of Sonchus asper extracts against experimentally induced lung injuries in rats: a novel study.
Hepatoprotective effects of methanol extract of Carissa opaca leaves on CCl4-induced damage in rat
Results indicate that MCL has a significant protective effect against CCl4 induced hepatotoxicity in rat, which may be due to its antioxidant and membrane stabilizing properties.
Prevention of CCl 4 induced adrenal oxidative stress in rat by Sonchus asper
It is inferred that S. arvensis efficiently protects adrenal injuries induced by CCl 4 in rats, possibly through antioxidant effects of bioactive compounds present in the fraction.
Evaluation of phenolic contents and antioxidant activity of various solvent extracts of Sonchus asper (L.) Hill
The potential of S. asper as a medicine against free-radical-associated oxidative damage is suggested and the SAME had best activities in scavenging of superoxide radicals and hydrogen peroxide as well as potently scavenged the hydroxyl radicals.
Platelet aggregation, antiglycation, cytotoxic, phytotoxic and antimicrobial activities of extracts of Nepeta juncea
Various subsequent fractions of Nepeta juncea were subjected to test against platelet aggregation, antiglycation, cytoxicity, phytotoxicity and antimicrobial activities, finding each fraction might have variable effects in different bioassays.
