Endothelin 3 (ET3) infusion increases the concentration of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in plasma, which in turn raises hematocrit (Hct) through a transcapillary shift of plasma fluid and proteins into the interstitium, thereby reducing plasma volume (PV).
