We attempted to improve the precision of the estimation of insulin sensitivity (S1) from the minimal model technique by modifying insulin dynamics during a frequently sampled intravenous glucose tolerance test (FSIGT). Tolbutamide and somatostatin (SRIF) were used to change the insulin dynamics without directly affecting insulin sensitivity.
