In this paper, we bring together the five-dimensional Saez–Ballester (SB) scalar–tensor theory (Saez and Ballester 1986 Phys. Lett. 113A 9) and the induced-matter-theory (IMT) setting (Wesson and Ponce de Leon 1992  J. Math. Phys. 33 3883), to obtain a modified SB theory (MSBT) in four dimensions. Specifically, by using an intrinsic dimensional reduction procedure into the SB field equations in five-dimensions, a MSBT is obtained onto a hypersurface orthogonal to the extra dimension. This four…

Geodesic deviation in Sáez-Ballester theory

Noncommutativity, Sáez–Ballester Theory and Kinetic Inflation

This paper presents a noncommutative (NC) version of an extended Sáez–Ballester (SB) theory. Concretely, considering the spatially flat Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker (FLRW) metric, we propose

Cosmological models in Sáez-Ballester theory with bilinear varying deceleration parameter

The basic purpose of this communication, is to investigate the dynamical nature of Bianchi type-I universe with perfect fluid content in Sáez-Ballester (SB) theory (Phys. Lett. A 113:467–470, 1986 ).

Anisotropic bulk viscous string cosmological models of the Universe under a time-dependent deceleration parameter

AbstractWe investigate a new class of LRS Bianchi type-II cosmological models by revisiting the paper of Mishra et al (Int. J. Theor. Phys. 52, 2546 (2013)) by considering a new deceleration

The study of accelerating DE models in Saez–Ballester theory of gravitation

The investigation in the present work is carried out on the spatially homogeneous and anisotropic axially symmetric space-time in the presence of two fluids, one being the pressureless matter and

Noncompactified Kaluza–Klein Gravity

We present a brief description of noncompactified higher-dimensional theories from the perspective of general relativity. More concretely, the Space–Time–Matter theory, or Induced Matter theory, and

Cosmological models in Sáez-Ballester theory with bilinear varying deceleration parameter

The basic purpose of this communication, is to investigate the dynamical nature of Bianchi type-I universe with perfect fluid content in Sáez-Ballester (SB) theory (Phys. Lett. A 113:467–470, 1986).

Bianchi type I cosmology in generalized Saez–Ballester theory via Noether gauge symmetry

In this paper, we investigate the generalized Saez–Ballester scalar–tensor theory of gravity via Noether gauge symmetry (NGS) in the background of Bianchi type I cosmological spacetime. We start with

Application of the Campbell-Magaard theorem to higher dimensional physics

Stated succinctly, the original version of the Campbell–Magaard theorem says that it is always possible to locally embed any solution of four-dimensional general relativity in a five-dimensional

Progress in the 5-dimensional Projective Unified Field Theory — Relationship to the Kaluza-Klein Approach

For 70 years different approaches to the (5-dimensional) projective relativity theory have been investigated. Here we present new field equations within the framework of our version called Projective

Five dimensional LRS Bianchi type-I string cosmological model in Saez and Ballester theory

Abstract In this paper, it is shown that five dimensional LRS Bianchi type-I string cosmological models do not survive for Geometric and Takabayasi string whereas Barotropic string i.e. ρ=ρ(λ)

Gauged duality, conformal symmetry, and spacetime with two times

We construct a duality between several simple physical systems by showing that they are different aspects of the same quantum theory. Examples include the free relativistic massless particle and the

Physics in higher-dimensional manifolds

In this thesis, we study various aspects of physics in higher-dimensional manifolds involving a single extra dimension. After giving some historical perspective on the motivation for studying

D-dimensional gravity from (D + 1) dimensions

We generalize Wesson's procedure, whereby vacuum (4 + 1)-dimensional field equations give rise to (3 + 1)-dimensional equations with sources, to arbitrary dimensions. We then employ this

Two-time physics in field theory

A field theory formulation of two-time physics in d+2 dimensions is obtained from the covariant quantization of the constraint system associated with the OSp(n|2) worldline gauge symmetries of

Kasner Solution in Brans–Dicke Theory and Its Corresponding Reduced Cosmology

We present a brief review of the modified Brans–Dicke theory (MBDT) in arbitrary dimensions, whereby the (N + 1)-dimensional field equations reduce to the N-dimensional (ND) configuration with

On the problem of the initial state in the isotropic scalar-tensor cosmology of Brans-Dicke

AbstractIn connection with the problem of the initial singularity in the framework of the Brans-Dicke scalar-tensor isotropic cosmology, the dynamics of the early stages of the expansion is studied
