  • Actinomycin D enhanced the killing effect of x rays on single HeLa cells exposed to the drug just before or after irradiation and during clone formation. Cells irradiated in medium having 85 per cent of the water replaced by D/sub 2/O were made more sensitive. Such medium alone sterilized HeLa cells upon progressive exposure. Survivors of D/sub 2/O exposure were abnormally sensitive to subsequent irradiation. HeLa cells whose x-ray doseresponse curves display hit numbers as high as 10 are… CONTINUE READING
