This article deals with experimental and theoretical studies of the sedimentation of polydisperse agarose beads with broad particle size distributions. A light-extinction principle was used to measure the variation of solid concentration in the suspension with time and settling distance. Di4erent experimental conditions have been used to show the in5uence of solid concentration and liquid density and viscosity on the settling behavior of the beads.
