A critical analysis is carried out of both experimental and theoretical data on the precritical creep crack growth rate which allows one to describe the process. A model is presented of crack tearing in an elastic nonlinear viscous material which is based on the application of a scalar damage parameter having corresponding kinetic equations. It is assumed that the crack length continuously grows due to the damage parameter achieving its critical value in the prefailure region at the crack tip…

Modeling of crack growth under creep conditions. Report 2. Crack kinetics
A model is presented which allows one to describe a wide range of phenomena associated with creep crack growth (CCG) which have been experimentally observed. A two-parameter dependence has been

A Fracture Mechanics Approach to Creep Crack Growth
A fracture mechanics approach was used to study high-temperature creep crack propagation. Crack growth rates were correlated with the C*-parameter which is an energy rate line integral. For materials
Creep Crack Growth
Creep has been a subject of considerable practical and theoretical interest. In recent years, however, there has been a shift in the way creep has been viewed. In earlier times creep was looked at as
The mechanics of brittle fracture
The study of brittle fracture of steel structures is hampered by the lack of a clear definition. A cleavage appearance does not preclude prior plastic deformation, nor is it completely free of shear.
