The U.S. Military, through the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) have sponsored the development of three different versions of the Hybrid Electric High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HE-HMMWV).
