1 INTRODUCTION Fingertip palpation is performed widely to detect tumors embedded in soft tissue. It is used to locate tumors in the lung for excision, and to detect and characterize tumors in the breast for diagnosis. However, it can be difficult to reliably locate these masses and estimate their properties.
