The feasibility of realizing overscreened Kondo effect in ultra-cold Fermi gas of atoms with spin $s \ge \tfrac{3}{2}$ in the presence of a localized magnetic impurity atom is proved realistic. Specifying to a system of ultra cold $^{22}$Na Fermi gas and a trapped $^{197}$Au impurity, the mechanism of exchange interaction between the Na and Au atoms is elucidated and the exchange constant is found to be antiferromagnetic. The corresponding exchange Hamiltonian is derived, and the Kondo…

Multipolar Kondo effect in a S01−P23 mixture of Yb173 atoms
Whereas in the familiar Kondo effect the exchange interaction is dipolar, it can also be multipolar, as has been realized in a recent experiment. Here we study multipolar Kondo effect in a Fermi gas
Asymmetric conductivity of the Kondo effect in cold atomic systems
Motivated by recent theoretical and experimental advances in quantum simulations using alkaline earth(AE) atoms, we put forward a proposal to detect the Kondo physics in a cold atomic system. It has
Transport measurement of the orbital Kondo effect with ultracold atoms
The Kondo effect in condensed-matter systems manifests itself most sharply in their transport measurements. Here we propose an analogous transport signature of the orbital Kondo effect realized with
Enhancing Kondo Coupling in Alkaline-Earth Atomic Gases with Confinement-induced Resonances in Mixed Dimensions
The Kondo effect describes the spin-exchanging interaction between localized impurity and the itinerant fermions. The ultracold alkaline-earth atomic gas provides a natural platform for quantum
Weak coupling magnetism of the ionic Kondo lattice model
Abstract We consider a one-dimensional ionic Kondo lattice model, which consists of a hopping term, a local spin-spin interaction, and an alternating one-particle potential. With this model, which is
Fully controllable Kondo system: Coupling a flux qubit and an ultracold Fermi gas
We show that a composite spin-1/2 Kondo system can be formed by coupling a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) to the internal hyperfine states of a trapped ultracold atomic Fermi
Spin-orbit coupling and topological states in an F=32 cold Fermi gas
In this work we study the possible occurrence of topological insulators for 2D fermions of high spin. They can be realized in cold fermion systems with ground-state atomic spin $F>\tfrac{1}{2}$, if
Efimov-enhanced Kondo effect in alkali-metal and alkaline-earth-metal atomic gas mixtures
Recent experiment has observed Feshbach resonances between alkaline and alkaline-earth atoms. These Feshbach resonances are insensitive to the nuclear spin of alkaline-earth atoms. Ultilizing this
Controlling the interaction of ultracold alkaline-earth atoms
Ultracold alkaline-earth atoms are used in precision measurements and quantum simulation. Because of their unique atomic structure, they could enable the study of problems in quantum many-body
Interaction Control of Ultracold Alkaline-Earth Atoms.
Ultracold alkaline-earth atoms have now been widely explored for precision measurements and quantum simulation. Because of its unique atomic structure, alkaline earth atoms possess great advantages
