A polymorphism in the signal sequence (Ala-9Val) of the gene encoding the free radical-quenching manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) has been reported to alter the risk for breast cancer. We evaluated this relationship in a population-based case-control study (476 breast cancer cases and 502 controls).
