OBJECTIVES To establish a rat model of acute pancreatitis in pregnancy (APIP) and evaluate its general presentations, assess placental injury, and discuss possible mechanisms. METHODS The APIP rat model was induced by sodium taurocholate in Sprague-Dawley rats of later gestation.
