We demonstrate the functionalization of thin-film composite membranes with zwitterionic polymers and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) for combating biofouling. Combining hydrophilic zwitterionic polymer brushes and biocidal AgNPs endows the membrane with dual functionality: antiadhesion and bacterial inactivation.
