This communication describes our clinical experience with the hybrid method, a video-assisted anterior minithoracotomy approach developed for minimally invasive limited pericardiectomy to treat 8 patients with massive pericardial effusion. The average operating time was 37.2 minutes, and there was no procedure-related morbidity or mortality. The mean follow-up period was 5.6 months, and there have been no recurrences.
