We propose a minimal UV-complete model for kinematically forbidden dark matter (DM) leading to a sub-GeV thermal relic. Our crucial realization is that the two-Higgs-doublet model can provide a light mediator through which the DM can annihilate into standard model leptons, avoiding indirect detection constraints. The DM mass is predicted to be very close to the mass of the leptons, which can potentially be identified from DM annihilation into gamma rays. Because of the sizable couplings to…

Light thermal relics enabled by a second Higgs

Sub-GeV thermal relic dark matter typically requires the existence of a light mediator particle. We introduce the light two-Higgs-doublet portal, illustrated by a minimal UV-complete model for

Light lepton portal dark matter meets the LHC

We examine the sensitivity of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to light lepton portal dark matter with its mass below 10 GeV. The model features an extra doublet scalar field and singlet Dirac dark

Sterile neutrinos as dark matter.

This model is reexamine and it is found that hot, warm, and cold dark matter are all possibilities and the number density of sterile neutrinos is proportional to [mu][sup 2]/M so that the energy density today is independent of M, which is crucial in determining the large scale structure of the Universe.

Forbidden dark matter annihilations into Standard Model particles

We present kinematically forbidden dark matter annihilations into Standard Model leptons. This mechanism precisely selects the dark matter mass that gives the observed relic abundance. This is

Dark matter assisted lepton anomalous magnetic moments and neutrino masses

We propose a framework that addresses the origin of neutrino mass, explains the observed discrepancies in the electron and the muon anomalous magnetic moments (AMMs) data, and incorporates the dark

Non-Abelian vector dark matter and lepton g-2

The mystery of dark matter remains an unsettled problem of particle physics. On top of that, experiments show a persistent contention of the muon anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) relative to the

A lower bound on the mass of cold thermal dark matter from Planck

We show that the new measurement of the effective number of neutrinos (Neff) by the Planck satellite can be used to set a robust lower bound on the mass of cold thermal dark matter of (MeV). Our

Freeze-in production of decaying dark matter in five steps

We study the cosmological evolution and phenomenological properties of scalar bosons in the keV to MeV range that have a tiny mixing with the Standard Model Higgs boson. The mixing determines both

SIMP spectroscopy

A bstractWe study the interactions between strongly interacting massive particle dark matter and the Standard Model via a massive vector boson that is kinetically mixed with the hypercharge gauge

Resolving electron and muon g−2 within the 2HDM

Recent precise measurement of the electron anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) adds to the longstanding tension of the muon AMM and together strongly point towards physics beyond the Standard Model

Light Dark Matter from Forbidden Channels.

This work provides an example where DM annihilates into dark photons, which is testable through large DM self-interactions and direct detection and follows from the exponential suppression of the thermally averaged cross section.
