An outline on lateral fish migrations within the Central Delta of the Niger River, Mali
The lateral migration of fishes was studied during one entire flood cycle (1991) in a typical floodplain sector of the Central Delta of Niger at Batamani, Mali. The intensity and temporal course ofExpand
Perspectives on the use of growth rate patterns in fossil ectotherm bones to characterise ancient continental environments: Case study in Late Neogene sites from northern Chad (Djurab)
Abstract We investigate the feasibility and potential relevance of studying growth patterns in the bones of fossil freshwater ectotherms with the aim of developing new markers for continentalExpand
The benthos of a natural west african lake with emphasis on the diel migrations and lunar and seasonal periodicities of the chaoborus populations diptera chaoboridae

Freshwater ecology and biodiversity in the tropics: what did we learn from 30 years of onchocerciasis control and the associated biomonitoring of West African rivers?
To release humans from river blindness, the Onchocerciasis Control Programme in West Africa (OCP) was implemented in 1974 and ended in 2002. It has emphasized preservation of biodiversity andExpand
Freshwater ecology and biodiversity in the tropics: what did we learn from 30 years of onchocerciasis control and the associated biomonitoring of West African rivers?
TLDR
After almost 30 years of monitoring the effects of larviciding in West African rivers it can be concluded that the effect of insecticides on the aquatic fauna was usually low for fish, whereas results for invertebrates indicate changes of taxa composition and community structure even at the family level, which should not have affected the general functioning of the aquatic system.
