The present study was carried out to develop a process for bioethanol production using microwave chemical pretreatment of rice straw. The comparative studies on different pre-treatment methods of rice straw viz. microwave acid and microwave alkali (at 480 W for 10 min), acid autoclave (for 30 and 90 min) and alkali autoclave (for 30 and 90 min), revealed that acid autoclave pre-treatment (90 min) recorded significantly lowest mean hemicellulose content of 7.53 per cent and microwave alkali pre…

Microwave-assisted organic acid pretreatment for enzymatic hydrolysis of rice straw
Pretreatment of lignocellulosic materials is considered a critical step in the production of cellulosic ethanol because it can significantly break the structure and remove the unwanted components of
Microwave and microwave-alkali effect on barley straw for total sugar yield
Lignocellulose is the most remarkable plant material resource for obtaining energy; however, its utility is restrained by its recalcitrant structure. Therefore, it is necessary to apply a convenient
Factors affecting delignification of oil palm empty fruit bunch by microwave-assisted dilute acid/alkali pretreatment
Microwave-assisted dilute acid/alkali pretreatment is an efficient and rapid method of removing lignin and hemicellulose, however, the optimized parameters for the maximum efficiency have to date not
Performance study of combined microwave and acid pretreatment method for enhancing enzymatic digestibility of rice straw for bioethanol production
Utilization of fossil fuel resources at large scale led to global warming alerts and threats. Bio-ethanol as an alternative fuel source can provide combat against these threats. Conversion of rice
Enhanced saccharification of rice straw and hull by microwave-alkali pretreatment and lignocellulolytic enzyme production.
Experimental results show that alkali concentration, irradiation time (IT) and substrate concentration (SC) were main factors governing the saccharification of rice straw and hulls.
Pretreatment by microwave/alkali of rice straw and its enzymic hydrolysis
Abstract Combination pretreatment of rice straw using microwave and alkali and its enzymic hydrolysis were investigated and compared with the alkali-alone pretreated process. First, the effect of
Microwave Assisted Alkali Pretreatment of Rice Straw for Enhancing Enzymatic Digestibility
Rapid industrialization, increasing energy demand, and climate change are the conditions that forced the researchers to develop a clean, efficient, renewable, and sustainable source of energy which
Sequential acid and alkaline pretreatment of rice straw for bioethanol fermentation.
Pretreatment is a prerequisite step for increasing the enzymatic digestibility of agricultural residues for conversion to fuels and chemicals in biorefineries. In this study, a sequential acid and
Comparison of Three Microwave/Chemical Pretreatment Processes for Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Rice Straw
The microwave/chemical Pretreatment is a more effective rice-straw Pretreatment technique than the conventional heating chemical Pretreatment by accelerating reactions during the Pretreatment
Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation of rice straw into ethanol.
As a consequence of the well-balanced cellulase production by mixed fungal culture, the supplementation of cellobiase or xylanase was not necessary in the simultaneous saccharification and fermentation process.
