Function of the skin lymphatics as well as blood perfusion of a meshed transplant is crucial for the healing. The lymphatic regeneration and arterial perfusion of skin transplants after severe burns of the extremities had been studied in eight patients by microlymphography, laser doppler perfusion imaging and transcutaneous oxygen pressure measurements 1, 6 and 18 months after transplantation. One month after transplantation, only fragmented as well as many giant lymphatic skin vessels were… Expand
Immediate Evaluation of Neovascularization in a Grafted Bilayered Artificial Dermis Using Laser Doppler Imaging
TLDR
Laser Doppler imaging could detect blood flow in the artificial dermis, and a significant difference was observed in perfusion units between the “complete take” group and “partial necrosis’ group before grafting (P < 0.05). Expand
The Lymphatic Response to Injury with Soft-Tissue Reconstruction in High-Energy Open Tibial Fractures of the Lower Extremity
TLDR
Severe compound fractures and the associated soft-tissue injury can result in significant lymphatic disruption and an increased risk for the development of chronic lymphedema. Expand
Localization and proliferation of lymphatic vessels in the tympanic membrane in normal state and regeneration.
TLDR
Results suggest that site-specific lymphatic vessels play an important role in the tympanic membrane, and abundant lymphatic regeneration was observed in the pars tensa, and these regenerated lymphatics vessels extended from the lymphatic Vessels surrounding the malleus at day 7. Expand
Compared to coverage by STSG grafts only reconstruction by the dermal substitute Integra® plus STSG increases TcPO2 values in diabetic feet at 3 and 6 months after reconstruction*.
TLDR
Wound beds reconstructed by Integra® showed on average 10 mmHg higher TcPO2, and the role of this increase of oxygen tissue pressure in redefine the indications for the use of dermal substitutes in reconstruction of poor vascularized regions remains to explain. Expand
Laser Speckle Contrast Images - Processing of Data to Analyze Microvascular Variations in Hand Skin of Healthy Subjects
TLDR
The results show that the dorsal faces of the two hands in the authors' young healthy subjects present close perfusion values (average coefficient of variation less than 9% for their subjects), which are preliminary observations to quantify the microvascular alterations in the above-mentioned diseases. TLDR
In split-skin grafts of patients with venous ulcers, severe microcirculatory changes are present and characterized by hypoxia and abnormal regeneration and function of lymphatic vessels. Expand

It can be suggested that these differences are due to anatomic variations in revascularization and healing in the different areas as well as to alterations in microvascular innervation and local response to vasoactive substances. Expand
