With the emergence of technologies to fabricate and mass-produce microscale tools and micromachines, microsurgery stands to potentially benefit through the development of a fundamentally new class of instruments. These new instruments may provide the surgeon with access to the smallest reaches of the body and perform operations that are currently not possible with manually operated tools.
