Abstract Microstructure and coercivity of cast hot-pressed Pr 19 Fe 76 B 5 magnets with copper addition and neodymium substitution for praseodymium are studied. It is found that copper strongly segregates at the Pr 2 Fe 14 B grain boundaries and markedly suppresses the grain diffusion growth during the final annealing.
