Recently individualized from polyarteritis nodosa (PAN), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is defined as a systemic necrotizing vasculitis that clinically and histologically affects small-sized vessels (ie, capillaries, venules or arterioles) without granulomata and is associated with focal segmental necrotizing glomerulonephritis.
