Rutin is the natural flavonoid with antihyperglycemic, antihypertensive, and antioxidative properties. To study in vitro production of rutin, we established plant tissue culture techniques for micropropogation of Alpinia purpurata. The specific objectives of this study were to test some of the simple methods and cheaper alternatives for micropropagation of Alpinia purpurata for determination of rutin.
