Filamentous fungi were isolated from soils and plant and animal material using Warcup's soil plate method. Collections were made at eight localities in Mac. Robertson Land and five in Enderby Land, between December 1979 and October 1980. The major taxa isolated were Penicillium spp., especially P. brevi-compactum and P. cyclopium, and Cladosporium herbarum. Sterile forms comprised 47% and 60% of isolates from Mac.
