The lithiotid limestone is characteristic for many Late Sinemurian – Pliensbachian tropical and subtropical carbonate platforms of the Neotethys and the Piemont-Liguria Oceans. On the northern edge of the ancient Adriatic Carbonate Platform (present NW External Dinarides) the lithiotid limestone forms a few hundred kilometres long belt. Sedimentological characteristics of the lithiotid limestone have been recorded in samples taken from three sections located in central Slovenia. Peloids, ooids… Expand

Middle Jurassic limestone megabreccia from the southern margin of the Slovenian Basin
The Slovenian Basin is a Mesozoic deep-water paleogeographic unit, located along the border between the eastern Southern Alps and the Dinarides, that records geodynamic signals from the opening ofExpand
Early Jurassic foraminiferal assemblages in platform carbonates of Mt. Krim, central Slovenia
During the Early Jurassic, the subtropical carbonate platforms of the peri-Tethys Ocean experienced significant changes in their architectures, as well as in their biota compositions. Shallow-waterExpand
Stratigraphic distribution and paleoecological significance of Early Jurassic (Pliensbachian-Toarcian) lithiotid-coral reefal deposits from the Central High Atlas of Morocco
Abstract During the Early Jurassic, a group of large, aberrant bivalves called lithiotids proliferated in proximal, shallow marine environments. These lithiotids formed bioherms and extensiveExpand
Lower Jurassic succession at the site of potential Roman quarry Staje near Ig (central Slovenia)

Variety of Black and White Limestone Tesserae Used in Ancient Mosaics in Slovenia
This study concerns the microfacies characterization of white and black limestone tesserae from selected Roman floor mosaics in Slovenia, with the aim of defining their provenance. We investigated 42Expand
Drenov Grič black limestone: a heritage stone from Slovenia
Abstract Drenov Grič black limestone is considered to be one of the most beautiful Slovenian natural stones due to its black colour interwoven with white veins. Over the centuries, it has beenExpand

The Dinaric carbonate platform margin in the Early Jurassic; a comparison between successions in Slovenia and Montenegro
Lower Jurassic successions of the Dinaric Carbonate Platform (DCP) margins were analyzed for sedimentology and fossil content at Trnovski gozd in Slovenia and at Rumija in Montenegro. The successionExpand
