Microcystin LR degradation by Pseudomonas aeruginosa alkaline protease.

We isolated several species of bacteria from the surface water of a Japanese lake. Of the isolated bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the only species which could degrade microcystin LR in vitro.
