A study was conducted to assess the microbiological quality i.e. total viable and coliform counts, and presence of E. coli, Staphlococcus aureus and Salmonella of 50 raw goat meat samples collected from hotels and retail meat shops of Jaipur, Rajasthan. Of the 50 samples only 36% (18) showed acceptable levels of total viable counts, while 58% samples were positive for coliforms. E. coli and staphylococcus were present in 76% and 70% samples, respectively, whereas none of the samples was found…
Occurrence and characteristics of extended-spectrum β-lactamases producing Escherichia coli in foods of animal origin and human clinical samples in Chhattisgarh, India
TLDR
A high prevalence of E. coli in raw chicken meat, chevon meat, and milk due to poor hygienic practices is indicated and requires adaptation of hygiensic practices and stipulate use of antibiotics.
Prevalence and molecular characterization of extended-spectrum b-Lactamases (blaTEM) producing Escherichia coli isolated from humans andfoods of animal origin in Chhattisgarh, India
TLDR
The present study describes the prevalence of extended spectrum b-lactamases (ESBL) producing E. coli in raw chevon, milk and human samples in different districts of Chhattisgarh state and reveals that all isolates to be highly sensitive towards imipenem, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin, amoxyclav, ampicillin, oxytetracyclin.
