This review focuses on the enzymes involved in two microbial carbon dioxide fixation pathways, the Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle and the reductive tricarboxylic acid cycle. The function, structural features, and gene regulation of microbial ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco), a key enzyme of the Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle, is described.
