Purpose: To determine the influence of risk factors, climate, and geographical variation on the microbial keratitis in South India. Methods: A retrospective analysis of all clinically diagnosed infective keratitis presenting between September 1999 and August 2002 was performed. A standardised form was filled out for each patient, documenting sociodemographic features and information pertaining to risk factors. Corneal scrapes were collected and subjected to culture and microscopy. Results: A…
Seasonal Trends of Microbial Keratitis in South India
TLDR
A higher incidence of fungal keratitis occurs during the months corresponding to the windy and harvest seasons, during which time infection from vegetative corneal injury may be more likely.
Bacteriology and risk factors of bacterial keratitis in Ethiopia
TLDR
Corneal trauma was the most common risk factor for bacterial keratitis followed by blepharitis, and the antibiotic with the highest susceptibility was ciprofloxacin.

TLDR
Corneal trauma was the most common risk factor for bacterial keratitis followed by blepharitis, and antibacterial susceptibility testing revealed that P. aeruginosa was theMost common isolate followed by S. aureus; the antibiotic with the highest susceptibility was ciprofloxacin.
Fungal Keratitis in North India: Spectrum of Agents, Risk Factors and Treatment

Epidemiology and medical prediction of microbial keratitis in southeast Brazil
TLDR
Medical judgment of microbial keratitis agent is possible based on clinical and epidemiological data, but it is more difficult for fungal infection.

Ocular Pathogen Causing Bacterial Keratitis in a Tertiary Care Rural Hospital.
TLDR
Routine microbiological examination of corneal ulcer is necessary to analyze & compare the changing trends in the microbial etiology & their susceptibility pattern to formulate a proper & appropriate antibiotic response against corneAL ulcer.

Comparison of fungal and bacterial keratitis between tropical and subtropical Taiwan: a prospective cohort study
TLDR
The identification rate of fungus was higher in tropical Taiwan than subtropical Taiwan, and awareness of the local epidemiology is crucial for early diagnosis of fungal keratitis in tropical area.
