This letter reports the results of the analysis of all-optical switching caused by nonlinear refraction due to cascaded second-order nonlinearity performed by means of the method of lines (MoL). Comparison with the results obtained by a home-made fast Fourier transform beam propagation method with one-step procedure, shows that the MoL optimized procedure allows the assumption of a larger step /spl Delta/z with shorter CPU times.
