A gas-phase formation route is proposed for the recently detected propargylimine molecule. In analogy to other imines, such as cyanomethanimine, the addition of a reactive radical (C$_2$H in the present case) to methanimine (CH$_2$NH}) leads to reaction channels open also in the harsh conditions of the interstellar medium. Three possible isomers can be formed in the C$H_2$NH + C$_2$H reaction: Z- and E-propargylimine (Z-,E-PGIM) as well as N-ethynyl-methanimine (N-EMIM). For both PGIM species… Expand

Formation of Phosphorus Monoxide (PO) in the Interstellar Medium: Insights from Quantum-chemical and Kinetic Calculations
In recent years, phosphorus monoxide (PO), an important molecule for prebiotic chemistry, has been detected in star-forming regions and in the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. These studies haveExpand
Extending the Applicability of the Semi-experimental Approach by Means of “Template Molecule” and “Linear Regression” Models on Top of DFT Computations
The template molecule (TM) approach can be used to account for the modifications occurring when going from the isolated fragment to the molecular system under investigation, with the linear regression model employed to correct the linkage between the different fragments. Expand
Development and Validation of a Parameter-Free Model Chemistry for the Computation of Reliable Reaction Rates
A recently developed model chemistry (jun-Cheap) has been slightly modified and proposed as an effective, reliable, and parameter-free scheme for the computation of accurate reaction rates withExpand
The Origin of the E/Z Isomer Ratio of Imines in the Interstellar Medium
Recent astronomical observations of both isomers E and Z of imines such as cyanomethanimine, ethanimine, and 2-propyn-1-imine have revealed that the abundances in the interstellar medium (ISM) ofExpand

Abundant Z-cyanomethanimine in the interstellar medium: paving the way to the synthesis of adenine
We report the first detection in the interstellar medium of the Z-isomer of cyanomethanimine (HNCHCN), an HCN dimer proposed as precursor of adenine. We identified six transitions ofExpand
C2H+H2CO: a new route for formaldehyde removal.
The title no-barrier reaction presents a new efficient route to remove the pollutant H(2)CO, and should be included in the combustion models of hydrocarbons and the possible formation of the intriguing propynal in space via the title reaction on ice surface. Expand

A twist on the reaction of the CN radical with methylamine in the interstellar medium: new hints from a state-of-the-art quantum-chemical study
Despite the fact that the majority of current models assume that interstellar complex organic molecules (iCOMs) are formed on dust–grain surfaces, there is some evidence that neutral gas-phaseExpand
