Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and oxidative stress have been implicated in neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Plasma MMP-2 and MMP-9 activities were assessed in Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and AD subjects compared with aged-matched controls, and subsequently analysed in relation to oxidative stress markers.
