The paper presents the first proof-of principle study of metabolite profiles of the interacting mycelial fronts of a wood decomposer basidiomycete, Stereum hirsutum, paired with two competitor basidiomycetes, Coprinus disseminatus and C. micaceus, using TLC and GC-TOF-MS profiling.
