Estrogen replacement therapy for postmenopausal women consists of an estrogenic and a progestagenic compound. The treatment has a positive estrogenic effect on bone, the cardiovascular system, and vagina but is dependent of the estrogen-progestagen balance in uterus to prevent unwanted proliferation.
