In the course of our chemical screening program, we observed that Streptomyces exfoliatus (strain Tii 1424) synthesized numerous quinoid pigments when rotary shaker cultures were supplemented with Amberlite XAD-1180. We report here on the isolation and structure elucidation of three antibiotics, which were shown to be new naphthoquinone C-glycosides (2~4). After isolation from a soil sample collected in Turkey, the strain Tii 1424 was cultivated in 500ml baffled Erlenmeyer flasks containing…

Metabolic products of microorganismen. 270. The structures of the exfoliamycins.
Recently, we have reported the isolation and characterization of the exfoliamycins (1~3), new antibacterial naphthoquinone C-glycosides from Streptomyces exfoliatus2). The connectivity within the
Alnumycin a new naphthoquinone antibiotic produced by an endophytic Streptomyces sp.
TLDR
The culture broth (5 liters) was separated by filtration followed by concentration under reduced pressure (1 l iter) and extraction with ethyl acetate (3×1 liter) and the bioactive fractions were determined.
Kanchanamycins, new polyol macrolide antibiotics produced by Streptomyces olivaceus Tü 4018. I. Taxonomy, fermentation, isolation and biological activities.
The kanchanamycins, a group of novel 36-membered polyol macrolide antibiotics were detected in the culture filtrate and mycelium of Streptomyces olivaceus Tü 4018 by HPLC-diode-array and
Novel naphthoquinones from a Streptomyces sp.
TLDR
Four novel naphthoquinones 1-4 showed weak activity against cdc25A phosphatase, and two of them incorporate a modified cysteine residue which is observed for the first time in this class of natural products.
Improvement of the kirromycin fermentation by resin addition
The kirromycin yield ofActinoplanes sp A8924 was improved from 30–50 mg L−1 to 350 mg L−1 by mutant selection and medium optimization. The incorporation of polystyrenic resins into the fermentations
Use of in situ solid-phase adsorption in microbial natural product fermentation development
TLDR
Examples where in situ product adsorption has been used to improve product titers or alter the ratios among biosynthetically related natural products are presented, and the mechanisms by which in situ adsorbents may impact the biosynthesis of microbialnatural products are discussed.
K1115 A, a new anthraquinone that inhibits the binding of activator protein-1 (AP-1) to its recognition sites. II. Taxonomy, fermentation, isolation, physico-chemical properties and structure determination.
A new inhibitor of the action of activator protein-1 (AP-1), designated K1115 A, was isolated from the fermentation broth of an actinomycete strain Mer-K1115. K1115 A was determined to be a new

Metabolic products of microorganisms. 263. Nikkomycins SZ, SX, SoZ and SoX, new intermediates associated to the nikkomycin biosynthesis of Streptomyces tendae.
TLDR
New intermediates associated with nikkomycin biosynthesis were isolated and characterized from the culture broth of Streptomyces tendae Tü 901/S 2566, and are analogues to octosyl acids, shunt metabolites of polyoxin biosynthesis.
New antibiotic pigments related to fusarubin from Fusarium solani (Mart.) Sacc. II. Structure elucidations.
Three antibiotic pigments isolated from Fusarium solani and related to fusarubin (4) were shown to be O-ethylfusarubin (2), hydroxidihydrofusarubin (3) and O-ethylhydroxydihydrofusarubin (1).
