Dichloroacetate decreases plasma glucose, lactate, and alanine concentrations in normal and diabetic subjects, and lowers lactate concentrations and increases survival in animals with experimentally induced lactic acidosis. The relationship between these effects and plasma dichloroacetate concentrations have not been previously studied in man.
