Chloralose-anesthetized dogs were infused intravenously with either Tris-acetate or Tris-pyruvate at 0.0375, 0.075, and 0.15 mmol/kg per min successively, each for 20 min. Acetate infusion increased cardiac output, left ventricular dP/dt and dP/dt/P, and coronary blood flow, while pyruvate infusion did not.
