Forty-three multiparous Holstein cows were used in a completely randomized design to evaluate the effects of protein supplementation and the use of bovine somatotropin (bST; Posilac, Monsanto Co., St. Louis, MO) in late gestation on animal metabolism and productivity in the periparturient period.
