Abstract. In the context of the Hagedorn temperature half-centenary I describe our understanding of the hot phases of hadronic matter both below and above the Hagedorn temperature. The first part of the review addresses many frequently posed questions about properties of hadronic matter in different phases, phase transition and the exploration of quark-gluon plasma (QGP). The historical context of the discovery of QGP is shown and the role of strangeness and strange antibaryon signature of QGP… Expand
The hot Hagedorn Universe
In the context of the half-centenary of Hagedorn temperature and the statistical bootstrap model (SBM) we present a short account of how these insights coincided with the establishment of the hotExpand
The hot Hagedorn Universe. Presented at the ICFNP2015 meeting, August 2015
In the context of the half-centenary of Hagedorn temperature and the statistical bootstrap model (SBM) we present a short account of how these insights coincided with the establishment of the hotExpand
Discovery of Quark-Gluon Plasma: Strangeness Diaries
We look from a theoretical perspective at the new phase of matter, quark-gluon plasma (QGP), the new form of nuclear matter created at high temperature and pressure. Here I retrace the path to QGPExpand
The Mar(e)k of QGP: Strangeness
Strangeness signature of of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) is central to the exploration of baryon-dense matter: the search for the critical point and onset of deconfinement. I report on the discovery ofExpand
Net baryon-number fluctuations in magnetized quark matter
The kurtosis and skewness of net baryon-number fluctuations are studied for the magnetized phase diagram of three-flavor quark matter within the Polyakov extended Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio model. TwoExpand
New indication on scaling properties of strangeness production in pp collisions at RHIC
Experimental data on transverse momentum spectra of strange particles (KS0,K−,K∗0,ϕ, Λ, Λ∗, Σ∗, Ξ−, Ω) produced in pp collisions at s = 200GeV obtained by the STAR and PHENIX collaborations at RHICExpand
Hagedorn legacy
These remarks open the one-day session “50 years of Hagedorn’s Temperature and the Statistical Bootstrap Model”. These developments set the path at CERN towards the discovery of Quark-Gluon Plasma inExpand
Particle model from quantum foundations
Some ideas are explored concerning the structure of elementary particles (specifically, leptons and hadrons), formulated within the context of a theory of the objective collapse of the wavefunctionExpand
Chemical freeze-out conditions and fluctuations of conserved charges in heavy-ion collisions within a quantum van der Waals model
The chemical freeze-out parameters in central nucleus-nucleus collisions are extracted consistently from hadron yield data within the quantum van der Waals (QvdW) hadron resonance gas model. The beamExpand
Thermal-FIST: A package for heavy-ion collisions and hadronic equation of state
TLDR
The Thermal-FIST package contains a class-based library which calculates relevant HRG observables for a specified setup, and contains a fast thermal event generator, which generates particle yields in accordance with the HRG chemistry, and particle momenta based on the Blast Wave model. Expand
