It was shown recently that melatonin inhibits 17β-estradiolinduced migration, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition in normal and endometriotic human endometrial epithelial cells [1]. These data suggest that melatonin may become the first noninvasive therapy which can be used to treat the very cause of endometriosis and not just to alleviate its symptoms.
