Apolipoprotein (apo) M is a novel apolipoprotein belonging to the lipocalin protein superfamily, i.e. proteins binding small lipophilic compounds. Like other apolipoproteins, it is expressed in hepatocytes and secreted into plasma where it associates with high-density lipoprotein particles.
