Individual cardiac nerves from which stimulation elicited cardioinhibition (bradycardia and negative inotropism) were identified in 24 of 38 dogs. Subsequently, 3-25 microliters of 30% horseradish peroxidase (HRP) were injected into an identified cardiac nerve. After a 3-day survival period, the medulla oblongata was processed for HRP histochemistry.
