The lives and careers of medical practitioners in the Islamic and Western Christian middle ages, a period often overlooked and misunderstood, were complex and diverse. While the overwhelming majority of medical practitioners of the middle ages remain merely names, for others we have a surprising amount of information about their background, practice and thought.
