A perusal of the literature (1-14) has indicated that information concerning the use of medicinal plants in New Guinea is rather scarce compared to that available from other tropical countries. This paucity of information is not so much due to geographic inaccessibility of the region as to linguistic difficulties and aetual lack of factual knowledge.
