The development of a degrading biomaterial is highly desired for use in new treatment modalities. In the search for degradable materials, a new category of biomaterials made from corroding metals was noticed. Magnesium and its alloys are biodegradable metals and exhibit improved mechanical properties and corrosion resistance compared to pure magnesium and industrial magnesium alloys.
