BACKGROUND Medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) is a widely accepted procedure for the treatment of medial compartment arthritis of the knee. Compared with closing wedge HTO, however, the outcomes of OWHTO reported in the literature are incomplete.
