We investigated rat left ventricular (LV) mechanoenergetics in three different preparations. We obtained an upward convex curvilinear end-systolic pressure-volume relation (ESPVR) regardless of left ventricular (LV) contractility in in situ and excised cross-circulated rat hearts.
